Learning Objective
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to;
- Identify the presenting signs and client concerns associated with SRD (separation-related disorder)
- Examine the multi-faceted nature of SRD and review the literature currently available on this subject
- Develop case management strategies, considering client counselling, potential medical interventions, and most importantly behaviour modification techniques
- Understand the role of behavioural prophylaxis in mitigating the risk of SRD in animals that may be vulnerable

Dr Claire Corridan BVMS PhD MRCVS MVCI
Claire qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 1999 from the University of Glasgow Vet School and with a Doctorate in Animal Behaviour & Welfare from the Univeristy of Lincoln, in 2010. Claire has served on the boards of the BVBA, ESVCE, AWSELVA and is currently chair of the IVBA and on the VICAS and animal welfare committees for Veterinary Ireland.
She has experience teaching Animal Welfare Science, Applied Animal Behaviour, and International Animal Welfare, Ethics & Law and is currently working as a research manager at UCD in Animal Welfare & Ethics.
Claire ran a successful first opinion and veterinary behaviour practice in Scotland for nearly ten years and continues to see veterinary behaviour cases now she has settled in Ireland.
